Distant View of Eternity, 1971
Who knows his name? Why does it matter? Young Spain now ponders his unlikely role, his life, his present predicament. Rocks and desert brush direct his eyes to view the mountains that rise to flirt with clouds; obscure the view to where his thoughts keep searching.
In the bleak stillness he can feel the promises before him, yet he knows not surely what he seeks—a country new, an otherworldly blessing, or sudden revelations of the great unknown? So far from home and kin, he sighs and tries to guess his fate in the harshness of this setting. Portents offer heaven, or some chimera, hidden.
